Travel / Accommodation

General

All of the events will take place either in the university’s main building or nearby. Thus we recommend you to acquire accommodation close to the subway station “Universität” or on the subway lines U3 and U6 which both stop at “Universität”.
We can cover your travel and accommodation expenses. Please let us know in advance, if you wish for a reimbursement of your costs. Reimbursement forms have to be filled out during the rounds. Please bring with you a receipt for your travel expenses. The hotel will be booked and paid directly by us.

Proposed Accommodation

In order to facilitate the organization of the rounds, we invite you to stay at Hotel Carlton Astoria as far as you need accommodation in Munich. The Carlton Astoria is located within walking distance from the University and highly recommendable at fair prices. We would be happy to make a hotel reservation for you upon your notice.

Travel

  • If you get to Munich by train, you can choose to buy either a single ride ticket, a day ticket, or a partner day ticket (for groups up to five) - or even three-day versions of these. The faculty of law/ LMU main bulidling are located in the inner district, so "Innenraum" tickets are sufficient for getting from the train to the faculty of law/ LMU main bulidling. Tickets must be validated (stamped) before entering the trains. The faculty of law (Prof. Huber-Platz 2) and the LMU main building (Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1) are located at the underground stop "Universität" (U3/U6).
  • If you arrive by air at Munich Airport, the easiest way into the city is by the S-Bahn, the regional railway system. By taking the S1 or S8 from Terminal 1, you will reach the city center (Marienplatz) in approximately 40 minutes. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket machines (ground floor near the escalators to the S-Bahn station). If you travel alone, you might want to buy an adult single day ticket (all zones) - if you are a group of two or more (up to five), you should buy an adult partner ticket (all zones). Tickets must be validated (stamped) before entering the trains. The faculty of law (Prof. Huber-Platz 2) and the LMU main building (Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1) are located at the underground stop "Universität" (U3/U6).
  • For more information please visit the MVV's website (Munich's public transport system).
